The Leaning Tower of Teluk Intan

The beautiful tower right in the middle of the city..
Beautiful craftmanship of the walkways..

This tower is located in Teluk Intan , Perak, Malaysia. Situated right in the heart of Teluk Intan town. The beautiful tower had been built in 1892 and started tilting four years later. This was due to unseen underground stream on the site. The design is heavily influenced by China's "Pagoda" architecture. It used to serve as a water tank and also a clock tower. The clock is still functional today . During the daytime you can walk into the building to inspect the interior.

  2. hi syed.. 1892? not a bad engineering and building construction huh- about 120 years and still intact although tilting.
the images captured are so crisp and striking, especially the second one, where the background (buildings) can't be seen due to the close up shot.

  3. Beautiful photos of this amazing tower Syed. I really like the close-up detail of the walkways. The 'lean' of the tower is not blatantly obvious in the photos...does it continue to lean more each year?

Very interesting post, Thank you! :)

  5. Are the upright timber columns one piece? If they are not joined they must have been cut from huge trees.
